Questions people ask before they call
Do you really answer at night?
Yes. The night line rings the electrician on call, not an answering service. The hours in the footer are the real ones: the line is answered around the clock, while the office and scheduled visits keep weekday hours.
What does a night call cost?
The pricing page explains the call-out fee by the hour of the day. It is higher overnight and on holidays, and the dispatcher says the figure on the phone before anyone drives out. The repair is priced separately, in writing, before we start it.
Is the call-out fee credited to the repair?
Weekday and evening fees are credited to the repair if you go ahead with it. The overnight fee is not: it pays for the night call itself.
What happens when I call?
A person answers, takes the address and what is happening, and tells you the fee for that hour. On site we test first and make the fault safe. If the repair runs past the first half hour, you get a written price before we go on.
Why does my breaker keep tripping?
A breaker trips to stop too much current. An overloaded circuit, a failing appliance or a loose or damaged wire can each cause it. A breaker that will not reset, or that feels hot, is a reason to call.
What if the whole street is dark?
Then the fault is probably on the power company's line, not in your wiring. Call them first. If only your home or building is dark, call us.
Do I need a permit, and who pulls it?
Many like-for-like repairs do not need one. Panels, services and new circuits usually do. We pull the permit where one is required, and the written price says so. The county and the city set the rules.
Are you licensed and insured, and how do I check?
Yes. Our Florida electrical contractor license number is in the footer of every page. Look it up on the state's license search, and ask for the certificate of insurance before work starts.
Do you work during a hurricane?
We keep the phone on. We do not send crews out when the roads or the wind make it unsafe, and we book the waiting calls once it is safe to drive.
Can I send photos?
Yes. Text a photo of the panel, the meter or the damage to (305) 555-0100. A photo helps us bring the right parts. It does not replace a visit.
Do you work for buildings?
Yes. Property managers and condo boards call the same night line. Each after-hours call gets a short report: when we arrived, what we found, what we did and what is still open.
Do you replace panels or rewire at night?
No. At night we make the house safe and plan the project for daylight, with a permit where one is needed. A panel change or a rewire is not a job to rush in the dark.
Still not sure?
Call and describe it, or send a photo by text.
